DEADLINE REMINDER:

The deadline to file for Homestead Tax Credit and/or Exemption, Disabled Veterans Homestead Tax Credit and Military Exemption is July 1, 2025 for the 2025 assessment year (taxes payable September 2026 / March 2027).  Applications may be submitted to our office via in-person, email, mail or fax.  All applications received or postmarked after July 1st will be processed for the 2026 assessment year (taxes payable September 2027 / March 2028).

Need Help Finding Comparable Sales?

Does my assessment reflect a fair market value?  Find out now by accessing our Cedar Rapids Comparable Sales Search Finder using the below easy steps:

STEP 1:
Click on the Real Estate Search button and search for your property.

STEP 2: 
Within your real estate record, click the Start Your Search button located next to the Cedar Rapids Comparable Sales Search Finder.

This interactive application may be used as a tool to help identify comparable homes that have recently sold with customizable search parameters in a visual format.  In accordance with Iowa Code (section 441.21), residential, commercial and industrial real property shall be assessed at 100% market value.

2025 Assessment Notices are now showing on website

The 2025 assessment notices were mailed on Friday, March 28th to Cedar Rapids property owners whose assessment changed since last year, informing them of the January 1, 2025 assessment.

For property owners that believe the assessment is not a reflection of market value, please contact our office to request an informal review.  The Cedar Rapids City Assessor's Office will conduct informal reviews from Wednesday, April 2, 2025 through Friday. April 25, 2025.  We highly recommend property owners contact our office as soon as possible to ensure timely processing of requests. (319) 286-5888 or crassessor@cedar-rapids.org

Additionally, property owners may file a formal property assessment appeal with the Cedar Rapids Board of Review between April 2, 2025 through and including April 30, 2025.  In the event, April 30th falls on a Saturday or Sunday, protests filed or postmarked by the following Monday shall be considered to have been timely filed.  Paperwork may be submitted via email at crassessor@cedar-rapids.org

Tax Estimator

The recently updated tax estimator calculates using the 2024 assessed value and the most recent levy rates and rollbacks. These calculations are to reflect a projected estimate of the 2025-2026 taxes. The computations are provided as a service and are a projection for estimation purposes only. Errors or omissions shall not be binding upon this office. Please contact the Linn County Treasurer for current year taxes or the Linn County Auditor about specific levy rates and rollbacks.
