Maximum Term: For grandparents: unlimited duration. For military deployment: length of deployment, plus 30 days.<a class="source-url" href="#source-url1">[1]</a> For all other reasons: 1 year.<a class="source-url" href="#source-url1">[2]</a>

Signing Requirements: Must be signed under oath and notarized. A copy must be filed within ten days of the power of attorney being executed, in the probate court of the county in which the child resides.<a class="source-url" href="#source-url3">[3]</a>
