Real and personal property tax records are kept by the Assessor in each Louisiana parish. Land and land improvements are considered real property while mobile property is classified as personal property. Many Assessor Offices provide an online searchable database whereby searches can be performed by parcel number, address, owner’s name, parish name, or subdivision. Additionally, the Louisiana Tax Commission offers online searches of tax records for most parishes. Where online records are not available, information can be obtained by contacting the Assessor office in person or by phone.
