In Florida, birth records are the responsibility of the Florida Department of Health. Birth records are restricted in Florida for 100 years after the event. During the 100 year restriction, birth records can only be accessed by the registrant if 18 years or older, to the registrant's parents or legal representative, or if the registrant has died and a death certificate is provided to the Office of Vital Statistics. Birth records can be obtained by the registrant, spouse, child, grandchild, or siblings. Birth records are available from 1865 to present.
