Birth records in Louisiana are the responsibility of the Louisiana Vital Records Registry, a division of the Office of Public Health. Louisiana birth records are restricted for 100 years from the date of the birth. During the restriction period, birth records are only available to the registrant or their spouse, parents, adult child, sibling, grandparent, or adult grandchild. Guardians other than parents may also access birth records if they present a judgment of custody to the State Registrar. Birth records are available from 1907 to present.
