The Oregon Secretary of State Corporate Division maintains corporate records. Business Names, Corporations, Limited Liability Companies, Limited Liability Partnerships, Limited Partnerships, Nonprofit Corporations, Business Trusts, and Oregon Trade Marks or Service Marks are all filed with the Secretary of State Corporate Division. The Corporate Division operates an online business name registration search that allows for searching by business name, registration number, and both active and inactive businesses. Searches can be performed by names of individuals or businesses associated with a registered business.Copies of business records dating back to 1850 can be obtained from the Corporate Division by mail, fax, or in person. Certified copies, however, cannot be provided by fax.Information about Oregon business and professional licenses can be obtained through the Oregon License Directory. In Oregon, licenses also include certifications, permits, and registrations. The State of Oregon maintains an online database to search for licenses based on category, occupation name, and agency (city, county, or state). While filing a business with the Secretary of State may be sufficient in some cases, some Oregon cities and counties may also require that a separate business license be filed with them. Such city and county run agencies may provide their own online search options to search by licensee name, business name, or license/registration number.
