The Alabama Department of Public Health maintains and issues certified copies of death certificates through the Alabama Center for Health Statistics. Death certificates can be ordered via mail, in person, or online.Each of Alabama's 67 counties also has a Department of Health where death records requests can be made. Death records are publicly available for deaths that occurred more than 25 years ago and for all years to immediate family members and those showing just cause.
