The Arkansas Vital Records office is responsible for death records. Arkansas Vital Records are restricted and therefore not public records. However, under Arkansas law, restricted records can be released to the registrant, relatives of the registrant, designated relatives, academic research groups, or those demonstrating a right to the record.Arkansas death records are restricted for 50 years, records of deaths occuring more than 50 years ago are public. Death records are available from 1914 to present. For a select few counties, death records are also available between 1881 and 1914.
