Death records are only available to the registrant, immediate relatives, or those with documented personal financial or legal interests in the record.Death records are available from the IDSH from 1900 to present. Death records prior to 1900 must be obtained from the county health department. Requests for birth and death records can be made online, by fax, by phone, by mail, or in person.
