The Oregon Vital Records Office maintains all vital records. Requests can be made to the Oregon Vital Records Office for certified copies of vital records either by mail, internet, fax, or telephone. Although there is a statewide Oregon Vital Records Office, each county also has its own Vital Records Office which handles death records. The Vital Records offices issue death certificates, and maintain these records. Depending on the county, Vital Records Offices are either with the county clerk's office or the county health department.The Oregon Center for Health Statistics can issue death certificates. The office has death records dating from July, 1903.Access to death, marriage and divorce records filed in the Oregon Vital Records office is restricted for 50 years after the date of the event to family members, their legal representatives, and people/organizations with a personal/property rights, government agencies, or individuals with special licenses.
