The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) manages an online searchable database for those currently incarcerated in one of their 28 facilities, and for parolees. Searches can be performed by IDOC number, last name, or date of birth. Searches for inmates who have been discharged from incarceration can be obtained through an archive search. Archive search requests can be made via email to the IDOC.The IDOC also manages a sex offender registrant search through the Illinois Police Department. Searches can be performed by city, county, zip code, release date, name, or IDOC number.The County Sheriff’s office in each county also manages inmate records for county jails and prisons. Some County Sheriff’s offices provide an online database for inmate records. Where an online database is not available, records requests can be made in person, via phone, or via mail.
