Michigan birth records are managed by the Michigan Department of Community Health. Birth records are available from 1867 to present. Birth records are restricted for 100 years. During the restriction period, birth records can only be obtained by the registrant, parent, legal guardian, legal representative, or an heir if the registrant is deceased. Vital records can be obtained in person, by mail, or online.
