The Ohio Secretary of State Business Services division is responsible for business and corporate records. Corporations, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships, and nonprofit corporations all file documents through the Secretary of State. An online searchable database is available, whereby business record searches can be performed by business name, registration number, agent name, document ID number, or prior business name. Records available include Certificates of Existence, Certificates of Authorization, and any other filed business documents.Professional licenses in Ohio are generally regulated by a board which governs the particular profession. The State of Ohio provides online access to dozens of professional licensing boards, including the Accountancy Board, Medical Board, and Psychiatry Board. Records searches can be performed by board name, profession, license number, business name, individual name, or location.Licenses for Ohio attorneys are managed by the Ohio Bar Association. Online searches for attorney records is available from the Bar Association whereby searches can be performed by name, location, firm name, or practice area.
