The Texas Secretary of State is responsible for business and corporate records. Corporations, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships, and other business entities file documents through the Secretary of State. An online searchable database is available, whereby business record searches can be performed by entity name. Registration is required to perform searches through the online system. However, records requests can also be made in writing, in person, or by telephone.Professional licenses in Texas are generally regulated by a board which governs the particular profession. The State of Texas provides online access to dozens of professional licensing boards, including architects, doctors, and engineers. Attorney licensing is managed by the Texas Bar Association. An online searchable database is available whereby attorney searches can be performed by name, education, practice area, or location.
