North Carolina inmate records are managed by the North Carolina Department of Corrections and by the County Sheriff’s office in each county.Many County Sheriff’s offices provide online access to inmate records. Online access could be through the Vinelink system which provides resources for crime victims and other interested parties. Some Sheriff’s offices post a list on their website with inmate name, booking date, charge, bond, court date, and court docket number. For counties that are not online, records managed by the County Sheriff can also be obtained in person, by mail, or by phone.The North Carolina Department of Corrections offers an online searchable database, whereby inmate searches can be performed by name, date of birth, or ID number. The records produced include name, inmate number, race, sentence history, and inmate photo.
