South Dakota marriage records are managed by the South Dakota Department of Health Vital Records division and by the Register of Deeds in each county.Marriage records are not available for open inspection to the general public. The general public can obtain informal copies of vital records; however, certified copies of vital records are only available to the registrant, spouse, child, parent, guardian, next of kin, authorized agent, or someone with a personal or property right related to the vital record.Vital records requests can be made in person, by mail, by phone, or online. Marriage records are available from 1905 to present.
